Tower Party

I would like to thank everyone who came out today, May 14th, to help with the tower removal that was donated by a North Marysville resident. It will have a new home at the Yuba City American Red Cross building. Next will be the tower raising party. Les kk6syv did a fantastic job doing the climbing and the tedious job of removing the antennas.  The project went very smoothly. The ground crew was a big help as well. They were as follows: Steve k6taz, David wa1ner, Dave kc9ei, Daryl ac6pj, Josh w6evl, and Manna ka6etb.

Field Day 2014
(Click for Pictures)

We had a great Field Day at the Sutter County Airport. There were 5 operating stations that made over 200 contacts (some using PSK) on every continent with the exception of Africa and Antarctica. The 3 Element Beam on top of the 60 Foot Portable Tower worked perfectly as did the 2 G5RVs, the Single 40 Meter Inverted-V, and a Hustler All-band Vertical. AMSAT Tracking was demonstrated by Mike, N6IQY. There was a flashing beacon installed on top of the tower, after all we were operating at an airport.

There were over 30 guests throughout the day, 27 stayed for the smoked ribs, brisket, and tri-tip that were prepared on site and complemented by a bounty of carry-in side dishes. We can hardly wait for next years field day. We would like to thank our sponsors, Twin Cities Aviation, Miller Aviation, the American Red Cross, and a special thanks for the use of the Sutter County Airport.
